Cordray Receives National Recognition for Response to Ohio's Foreclosure Crisis
NeighborWorks America has selected Treasurer Richard Cordray for its 2008 State Government Service Award.
This is the second national award earned by Cordray this year. He was also selected, earlier this year, as the Small Business Association's Advocate of the Year for Region VI.
NeighborWorks award recipients selected making significant contributions to improve the lives of people in their communities through their support for affordable housing and community development.
"Treasurer Cordray's urgent response to the foreclosure crisis in Ohio has served as a pillar of support for organizations like ours, which aim to reverse the trend and rebuild the financial security of our communities," said Lou Tisler, Executive Director of Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland, which nominated Cordray for the national award.
The other 2008 honorees are: U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana (recipient of the Federal Government Service Award); Raleigh, North Carolina Mayor Charles Meeker (recipient of the Local Government Service Award); and U.S. Representative James Walsh of New York (recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award).
"These individuals have shown unwavering commitment to and support for public polices that advance community revitalization goals. Their leadership has helped transform the communities they represent and we are proud to honor them for their invaluable service," said NeighborWorks ® America Chief Executive Officer Kenneth D. Wade.
