CORDRAY RAISES OVER $1.9 MILLION

(Columbus)--The Democratic candidate for Ohio Attorney General, Ohio Treasurer Richard Cordray, has $1,937,656.70 on hand according to his semiannual campaign finance report filed today.

Individual contributions ranged from $5 to $10,670, the maximum amount allowed by Ohio law.

"Our contributions come from all corners of the state and all walks of life," Cordray said. "I believe our fundraising success so far illustrates the broad level of support for my candidacy and the positive response of voters to my track record as a state and local officeholder."

While fundraising is an important measure of a candidate's viability, organization and momentum are equally important, Cordray noted.

"I have been endorsed by teachers, pipefitters, health care employees welders and social workers. The Mayors of Ohio's 10 largest cities, representing 2.48 million Ohioans, endorsed me. I have received campaign contributions from firemen and cashiers as well as business executives. Thousands of working men and women are represented by the organizations that support my candidacy.

"This broad base of support reflects our campaign's early presence in every corner of the state. Since accepting my party's nomination on June 21st, I have discussed Ohio's future with voters in every corner of the state: from Cincinnati to Cleveland, Toledo to Youngstown, Chillicothe to New Philadelphia, and Bowling Green to Akron and Canton. Moreover, we have a strong statewide organization with paid staff on the ground and coordinators in each of Ohio's 88 counties who have had campaign materials on hand for the summer season of fairs, festivals and community events. Our new web site, www.cordrayforohio.com, is engaging and informing concerned Ohio citizens around the clock. As we move forward, we will continue to share with voters my solid record of public service and legal experience and our message of the importance of protecting our families from financial predators, unfair practices and corruption."
