Ohio speaks out on credit crunch

More than 5,000 comments passed on to officials considering regulations

bq. COLUMBUS -- State Treasurer Richard Cordray has forwarded thousands of comments submitted to his office about unfair credit card practices to federal officials considering revamped regulations.

A total of 5,373 comments, plus 57 resolutions from city councils and county commissioners, are in support of rules offered by National Credit Union Administration, the Federal Reserve Board and the Office of Thrift Supervision that would prohibit certain practices, including "unreasonable payment dating and raising interest rates on pre-existing balances," according to the Democratic office-holder.
