Cordray has an untainted record of public service, which includes the state's first Solicitor General, senior adviser to the attorney general. The former Franklin County treasurer's biggest edge is his experience in state government. Cordray was elected treasurer in 2006 at a time when scandals plagued the Republican-controlled state government. His tenure there has shown him to be fiscally responsible.

The simple fact is that Attorney General is a spot that better suits Cordray's talents. A graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, Cordray has worked in the AG's office as a senior advisor, served as a clerk for the U.S. Supreme Court and has tried cases at all levels, including before the U.S. Supreme Court.

In two decades of private practice, Cordray proved he would stand up for social justice and civil rights, fighting against the Ku Klux Klan and for the state's ethnic intimidation laws. Cordray also has experience as a state lawmaker.
